About The Position

Lynn Public Schools is seeking a Secondary Chemistry Teacher for the School Year 26/27. This position is part of the new City Arts and Sciences Academy (CASA), a grade 6-12 school focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). CASA integrates advanced curricula, interdisciplinary project-based learning, and real-world applications to engage students from diverse backgrounds. The school emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and community partnerships. CASA faculty are expected to create engaging project-based learning experiences, adapt curriculum to student needs, and collaborate with colleagues and community partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Chemistry 8-12
  • SEI Endorsement
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism, and bias, and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Additional content area licensure is encouraged
  • Experience in an urban district/setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Creates and researches project-based learning experiences that are engaging, educational and exciting for students.
  • Welcomes the flexibility of being part of an emergent team and is willing to respond to the changing needs of a creative, innovative learning and teaching environment.
  • Is enthusiastic about developing a project-based classroom; modifying and expanding existing curriculum to respond to the needs of the students at any given time.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Incorporates goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s lived experience and to the Lynn community.
  • Collaborates with community partners and other teachers.
  • Planning and implementing standards-based lessons with clear objectives.
  • Providing appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socio-economic levels and cultural backgrounds.
  • Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. (Modify, scaffold, etc. for Special Education and English Learner Education).
  • Using a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction.
  • Providing a motivating and stimulating, safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapting Math lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students.
  • Developing and maintaining pupil-teacher relationships conducive to effective teaching and learning.
  • Maintaining a growth mindset.
  • Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.
  • Participating in school-wide and department-wide professional development activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community, including collaborating on curriculum, lesson and assessment design.
  • Using computers and other technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom.
