About The Position

The Pulaski County Special School District is seeking a Secondary Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 School Year. This administrative position will be responsible for assisting the principal in planning, developing, and implementing the school's total program, with a specific focus on leadership in the ongoing Compensatory Instructional Program at the secondary level. The role involves supporting various aspects of school operations, staff development, student discipline, and community relations.

Requirements

  • Valid Arkansas Secondary Principal Certificate or qualifications for the same
  • Three years of teaching experience in secondary schools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing the total curricular and extracurricular program of the school.
  • Assist in planning and directing the inservice education of the staff.
  • Visit classes frequently and serve as a resource person to provide individual help to teachers.
  • Assist in selecting and assigning school personnel.
  • Assist in the evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Help to establish and maintain good relationships between pupil-staff, school-community, school-central office and administration-staff.
  • Assist with the coordinating of the total school program with programs of other schools.
  • Help to maintain the policies, rules and regulations of the school.
  • Assist in performing all duties as outlined by PCSSD school board policies and/or Federal and State guidelines.
  • Assist with attendance.
  • Help to maintain pupil and staff personnel records.
  • Help to maintain proper discipline and promote principles of good citizenship.
  • Assist with student scheduling.
  • Help to plan, monitor and supervise the maintenance and custodial services of the school.
  • Account for funds, supplies and equipment as assigned by the principal.
  • Assist in implementing the district's desegregation plan through monitoring to preclude discrimination based on race, gender, age or disability, and annually report the results of monitoring to the principal.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the principal.
