About The Position

Merritt Aluminum Products, a two-time winner of the ‘Best Company to Work for in Colorado,’ is seeking a Second Shift Welder. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently welding Company products according to specifications. The position involves producing high-quality work, meeting daily production schedules, demonstrating strong knowledge of welding processes and fixtures, and contributing to plant organization, safety, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Relevant experience welding in a production environment and/or training in a related vocational program.
  • Proven ability to interpret and understand work orders/plant drawings and properly set up welding fixtures.
  • Proven ability to consistently meet production schedules.
  • Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job.
  • Basic knowledge of production safety and procedures.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and consistent attendance.
  • Proven ability to recommend process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret work orders to select correct materials, fixtures, and properly set up the work area.
  • Perform first-piece and random inspections of completed work according to quality standards.
  • Proactively identify defects or equipment issues to minimize scrap materials and rework.
  • Complete all assigned tasks according to work order estimates and daily production schedules.
  • Identify the most efficient way to safely complete scheduled assignments.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and schedule time-off with advance notice.
  • Correctly use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain safe work habits and perform required safety inspections.
  • Be aware of surroundings and avoid potential hazards.
  • Operate welding equipment, including reading drawings, fixturing, advanced set-up, and efficiently transitioning between orders.
  • Take good care of equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Cross-train to skillfully operate a variety of production equipment, cranes, and forklifts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and promptly remove scrap materials.
  • Organize all tools, fixtures, and equipment for easy accessibility.
  • Correctly attach identifying work orders with associated completed parts.
