About The Position

SURTECO specializes in the production and sale of laminates, foils and vinyl-coated fabrics. Our technologies, products and services deliver distinctive performance features, thus helping to support our Customers’ reputations for trusted brands around the globe and in a wide variety of markets. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces. The Second Operator Multi-Stage will assist the Multi-stage Operator operate a multistage rotogravure press by ensuring product meets quality standards and is run efficiently and troubleshooting any production problems. Second Operator will be trained and must be able to perform all the Multi-stage operator’s duties when this person is absent. They must be able to meet quality standards and run efficiently. No direct reports.

Requirements

  • Complete Forklift Certification if required
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Pass Farnsworth-Munsell color test score of Average Discrimination or above
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Good Communication skills
  • Takes directions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed
  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; bend; kneel; squat; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell
  • Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year technical degree
  • Six months to one year of production press helper experience

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules
  • Actively participate in SHE program
  • Responsible to train new Production Helpers and Second Operators
  • Use SAP accounting system for all press confirmations and production labeling
  • Take directions from Multi-stage Operator
  • Monitor ink levels and viscosity
  • Operate ink spec viscosity control systems
  • Operate registration controls
  • Camera setup, defect tracking and report out
  • Clean cylinders and press stages
  • Thread paper/film through machine
  • Adjust blades/build up doctor blades
  • Gather proper raw materials
  • Set register
  • Watch product for defects in web, correct any problems resulting in defects
  • Complete QC testing and record results
  • Troubleshoot production problems
  • Assure and maintain proper raw material levels
  • Adjust press settings based on production run
  • Install and remove cylinders
  • Adjust ink amounts for proper color matching
  • Complete log sheet
  • Assist Multi-stage Operator and Production Helper to make ready next order materials
  • Inspect rolls of finished product for defects
  • Responsible to clean/mop aisleways beside each press daily
  • Get add adjustments and keep this area mopped and cleaned daily
  • Other duties as assigned.
