About The Position

Responsible for assisting in preparing and cooking food items in specific sections or stations within the kitchen. This role involves preparing and cooking food items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. The Second Cook will assist at a specific station or section within the kitchen, such as grill, sauté, pantry, or pastry, utilizing a variety of cooking techniques like grilling, frying, baking, roasting, and sautéing. The position requires adherence to proper food safety and sanitation practices to ensure a clean and hygienic working environment, and maintaining clean, organized, and sanitized workstations, equipment, and utensils.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Culinary Arts preferred
  • Experience in lieu of a degree is accepted
  • Line Cook or Related Experience: 3 - 5 years preferred
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, knife skills, seasoning, and flavor profiles.
  • Understanding of food safety principles, including proper food handling, storage, temperature control, and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication skills for working in a team-oriented kitchen environment.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and working with kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, handle high-pressure situations, and solve problems on the spot.
