Newly created role to help drive more innovation into new Ford seat and restraints projects. The candidate will act as an engineering project manager assisting core/research teams bring high want projects from key stake holders into programs. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements. The Product Development Engineer is expected to understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem. The Product Development Engineer will perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of seat and restraints product development engineering.
  • CAD capable.

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Highly organized and motivated self-starter.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead organization of internal innovation reviews including but not limited to internal tech shows and monthly innovation meetings.
  • Work with cross functional teams to serve as the project manager to bring ideas from concepts to application ready projects that can be sourced by programs.
  • Assist with core foundation documentation creation including but not limited to P-Diagrams, RCL's, DFMEA's and SCCAF's.
  • Interface with program, marketing, studio and pre-psc teams to identify projects to bring forward to the development stage.
  • Assist with creation of business cases in order to prove project financial feasibility.
  • Benchmark competitive set on new seat features.
  • Meet with suppliers to create a catalog of new technologies.
