About The Position

Perform routine grounds maintenance duties. This includes pruning and trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs; weeding and raking grounds; and applying fertilizers, pesticides, and sod conditioners as needed. The role involves operating various tools and equipment, including hedge trimmers, hand and power tools, and snow removal equipment, with the ability to make minor repairs. Responsibilities also include raking leaves, removing trash, sweeping walkways, performing general custodial duties incidental to grounds keeping, and assisting in the preparation and lining of athletic fields and the installation of playground equipment.

Requirements

Knowledge of operation of hand and power tools and equipment used in grounds keeping.
Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking and weeding.
Knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in gardening and grounds keeping work.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Ability to perform general grounds maintenance duties including mowing, edging and weeding.
Ability to perform routine and semi-skilled grounds maintenance duties.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
Ability to use a variety of tools and machines utilized in the basic trade.
Ability to safely operate power equipment.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
Ability to mow, edge, water, weed, fertilize, rake and cultivate lawns, flowerbeds, athletic fields and other landscaped areas.
Ability to lift, carry, and push or pull weights up to 50 pounds.
High level of physical endurance to meet the demands of extended work days.
Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
High school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
Valid Kentucky driver's license.
