About The Position
The Anoka County Parks department is seeking a Seasonal Turf Technician to perform various duties related to golf course maintenance. This role is crucial in supporting the department's mission to positively impact the quality of life in Anoka County by providing parks, outdoor recreation, and leisure services, which includes protecting the natural environment, improving citizen health, and supporting the local economy. The position involves hands-on work to maintain the golf course and its grounds.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age by date of application.
- Must successfully pass criminal history background check.
Nice To Haves
- General mechanical knowledge.
- Previous golf course work experience.
- Basic understanding of the game of golf.
- Obtain or maintain American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily golf course maintenance including mowing the course, laying sod as appropriate, preparing new turf, and seeding the lawn.
- Mow golf course utilizing rotary mowers.
- Perform sand trap, basic tree, and vegetation maintenance.
- Assist with irrigation landscape repair, fertilizer applications, special projects, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Ensure proper care and safety in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and communicate any needs or problems.
- Promote continuous improvement of safety and environmental practices.
