BC Seasonal Swim Instructor
About The Position
JC Aquatics, located near the Santa Monica Pier, is seeking a creative and skilled Swim Instructor to join their growing Aquatics program. This role involves working with a range of swimmers from beginner to advanced at an indoor facility. The program offers private lessons, group programs like Junior Guards preparation, Pre Team, Intro to Water Polo, Fundamentals, and a Master’s group class, as well as summer open water events. This is a seasonal opportunity with flexible but consistent hours, ideal for working around school or other jobs. The position requires a minimum commitment of one after-school weekday shift and one weekend shift per 3-month block, with schedules needing to be committed to in advance.
Requirements
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
- Must be a self-starter capable of working alone and with a team.
- Must be confident with multiple children at different swim levels in the same group.
- Must be okay getting in and out of the water multiple times.
- Must be able to respond to an emergency in a calm, effective manner.
- Capable of lifting 30+ pounds overhead.
- Availability to work weekends.

Responsibilities
- Teach swimmers from beginner to advanced levels.
- Conduct private lessons and group programs.
- Assist with summer open water events.
- Attend in-service trainings.
- Respond to emergencies in a calm, effective manner.
- Assist other team members when needed.
- Perform light office work and cleaning when not on deck.
- Willing to lifeguard if needed.
