About The Position

The City of Fort Dodge is creating a list of seasonal snowplow operators to assist with snowfall operations based on needs and conditions. Individuals must be able to respond in a timely manner to snow events and assist in completing effective and safe snow removal throughout Fort Dodge. Pre-employment, post-offer background check, physical, drug screen and physical capacity evaluation required.

Requirements

• One (1) year of related experience, snow removal experience preferred
• Valid Iowa Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brake endorsement required
• Good driving record
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds on occasion
• Ability to operate equipment such as end loaders, dump trucks, snowplows with salt spreaders, and snowplows

Nice To Haves

• Snow removal experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operates necessary equipment to remove ice and snow from roads and assigned areas, which require overnight work, early morning starts, extended hours and weekend duty including holidays if needed.
• Responds in a timely manner when called to assist in snow plowing.
• Follows all safety rules, policies and regulations.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
