Requirements

  • San Diego County EMT certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Training Cards (current).
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand comprehensive correspondence, memos, and reports.
  • Ability to accurately document security related observations and incidents.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, guests, members, and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in English to customers, guests, members, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply understanding based on company policies and procedures in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Guard's hotel, club and restaurant properties against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
  • Administer advanced medical treatment in line with EMT certification.
  • Stand guard at designated post.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at property entrances to maintain orderly flow.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds of the property to ensure the safety and security of members, guests, visitors, and employees.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are locked and secure.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, trespassing, or carrying forbidden articles.
  • Escort persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts off property.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property and conduct random property inspections.
  • Sound alarm or call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment for use of supervisory staff.
  • Assist guests with directions and instructions as needed.
  • Respond to noise complaints as directed by Manager on Duty.
  • Use ten codes to communicate via radio to other security officers and staff.
  • Attend regularly scheduled department meetings.
  • Manage guest and employee injuries, making determinations on level of treatment necessary.
  • Perform all tasks as safely as possible and adhere to applicable safety procedures.
  • Immediately report any known or potentially dangerous hazards to management.
