About The Position

Thurston County Public Works is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Seasonal Scalehouse Operator to join their dynamic, energetic, and innovative Solid Waste team. In this temporary position, you will assist customers and collect fees at their Thurston County Solid Waste facilities located in Lacey, Rainier, and Rochester. This temporary/seasonal position generally works 40 hours per week, to include weekends, and is anticipated to last six (6) months from the hire date. This position is considered to be an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
One year work experience requiring public contact and cashiering duties.
Current Washington State Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Customer service experience.
Previous cash handling experience.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public; ability to take oral and written instructions, adaptable to changing work conditions/tasks and, at times, work independently.

Responsibilities

Measures loads of refuse for cubic yardage to determine cost; determines categories for loads.
Collects fees explaining the rate structure, issues receipts.
Answers phone calls from public for information on dumping.
Logs daily and weekly receipt sheet; deposits cash receipts weekly.
Performs custodial maintenance of facilities daily.
Performs other duties as assigned.
