About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions and recommend products while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s mission of connecting active people with their passions. Associates help ensure product availability, create visual displays, address customer inquiries, and operate checkout efficiently while supporting the Store Leadership team.

This is a part-time, seasonal hourly retail position, starting at $14 per hour. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. The role offers flexible schedules and opportunities for advancement. Temporary employees may be eligible for the company’s 401(k) plan and match subject to age and hours-worked conditions, employee discounts, and Wellness Time Off.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Ability to frequently move about in an active environment and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
• No specific education required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by answering questions about product features, benefits, and availability, and understanding customers’ needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise and recommend suitable options to customers.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty-program connections, accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently.
• Support the Store Leadership team and contribute to store profitability.
