Seasonal Retail Associate
About The Position
As a Retail Associate at Columbia Sportswear Company, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales skills to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting customer service, teamwork, and the company’s mission of connecting active people with their passions. Associates also support product availability, visual displays, checkout operations, and the Store Leadership team. This role requires working in an active environment with frequent movement and handling items weighing up to 40 pounds. Work schedules are flexible and may change seasonally or in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. The position is seasonal and temporary.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Up to 2 years of experience in a position or specialization.
- Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly with others.
- Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
- Ability to frequently move about and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer questions about product features, benefits, and availability, and understand customers’ needs and preferences.
- Demonstrate and explain merchandise and suggest suitable product options.
- Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
- Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
- Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, efficiently and accurately.
- Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently.
- Support the Store Leadership team and contribute to customer service, teamwork, and store profitability.
