About The Position

The Park Board of Trustees in Galveston, TX is looking to hire a Seasonal Pavilion Attendant. This customer service position is in the hospitality and tourism industry and involves working for a historic beach destination. The Park Board of Trustees oversees Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB), and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). They are funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees. Their mission is to promote and support tourism on Galveston Island to foster an environment that establishes a great place to live, work, and visit, with a vision to create a tourist destination that promises an exciting variety of experiences and a high quality of life for residents.

Requirements

At least 15 years of age
Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) certification or ability to become certified (CTA training provided by the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees upon hire)
Fluency in English both verbally and in writing
Ability to operate hand tools and work with basic cleaning chemicals
Ability to communicate with the public while maintaining professionalism
Ability to operate equipment such as golf carts and all-terrain vehicles
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for 8 hours or more per day
Excellent customer service skills
Reliable and responsible
Ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Ensuring all pavilion amenities, restrooms, showers, storage areas, and equipment are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
Filling dispensers in bathrooms and ensuring common guest areas are kept neat and tidy.
Clearing sidewalks and walkways.
Collecting and disposing of any loose trash.
Trimming ornamental landscaping.
Painting fences and other park structures as necessary.
Maintaining the grounds.
Ensuring inventory for cleaning supplies is consistently stocked.
Resolving guest concerns when possible and referring any escalated issues to an on-duty manager.
Completing assigned tasks to maintain the smooth operation of the park.
