About The Position

Under immediate supervision, to perform semi-skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities in the Parks Division. This role involves maintaining lawns and landscapes, assisting with minor construction and repair projects, and ensuring the cleanliness of park facilities. Seasonal staff may be supervised by leads, and all perform as part of a crew.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of employment.
No experience required for Seasonal Parks Worker.
Six months experience in performing basic maintenance or related duties for Seasonal Parks Lead.
Valid Utah Driver's License
Ability to operate a variety of mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in all types of weather.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Ability to learn City policies, procedures and codes related to parks maintenance.
Ability to perform park maintenance, landscaping, reconstruction, and repair work.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Responsibilities

Mows, waters, and maintains lawns and other landscapes.
Pruning, weeding, spraying, tree planting, or removal of trees.
Operates simple hand and power tools; operates simple equipment in moving materials.
Assists with minor construction projects which may include work in painting, concrete, carpentry and fence repair.
Assists with minor repairs to sprinkling system.
Performs other service maintenance duties as assigned.
Cleaning of public restrooms, park pavilions, park properties, and emptying of trash cans.
Leads supervise seasonal staff and perform as part of a crew.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
