About The Position

This seasonal, full-time Park Ranger Assistant position will help bring parks to life by supporting interpretive programs and essential park operations. The role involves creating materials for educational programs and delivering engaging experiences such as evening campground talks, guided hikes, Junior Ranger activities, rocky shore presentations, and tours of historic sites. Additionally, the assistant will support year-round staff with the protection, upkeep, and daily operation of park lands, facilities, and equipment. Tasks may include basic maintenance, landscaping, janitorial work, or visitor services, and some positions involve a mix of these areas. At times, guidance may be provided to volunteers or seasonal team members.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.); OR Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours).
  • Must pass a criminal record and driving record check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
