About The Position

This position serves within the Environmental Management Branch of the Indiana Army National Guard. The position will conduct tasks that implement the Camp Atterbury Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP). The salary for this position is $13.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, limited to working 180 calendar days. Potential duties are widely varied and conducted in support of a full spectrum natural resources management team. Opportunity exists for hands on experience in numerous natural resources disciplines, with potential assignments in support of any of the activities below.

Requirements

  • Valid High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE); or one (1) year of work experience.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Indiana Department of Corrections Work Crew Boss (training & certification provided).
  • Possess or obtain pesticide license of RT or greater.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to stand or stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to carry a 40-pound pack over rough terrain.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word).
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prescribed fire implementation as a member of a crew
  • Support to forestry including inventory, TSI and timber sale administration
  • Invasive species removal and management
  • Pesticide application
  • Wildlife monitoring
  • White tail deer management and survey
  • Threatened and Endangered Species Monitoring
  • Wildlife trapping
  • Land rehabilitation
  • Grassland improvement and restoration
  • Chainsaw operation
  • Water quality monitoring
