About The Position

Perform a wide variety of duties relating to park maintenance and upkeep. This role involves assisting with the maintenance and mowing of parks, greenbelts, and open space areas. Responsibilities include inspecting and performing routine maintenance on park restrooms, assisting with the upkeep of public facilities like playing fields, courts, playgrounds, restrooms, and picnic shelters, and painting playground equipment and facilities as needed. The position also entails routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment, planting and maintaining landscaping, operating a motor vehicle and various light equipment, and using a variety of hand tools. Demonstrating proper and safe techniques for equipment operation and maintenance is crucial. Additionally, the role involves assisting with event setup and takedown, preparing facilities for programs, and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and the public. Cleaning and caring for equipment and storage areas are also key duties.

Requirements

Valid driver's license required.
Ability to operate lawn and landscaping equipment, including mowers, edgers, trimmers, miscellaneous hand, and power tools.
Knowledge of safety practices and protocol.
Ability to follow both written and oral directions.
Punctual and willing to work every day.
Team player.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to wear personal safety equipment such as ear protection, vests, safety goggles, etc.
May be required to work some evenings and weekends dependent on Town functions.
Ability to drive a pickup truck, four-wheeler/ranger, lawn and landscaping equipment, including mowers, aerators, chainsaws, lawn edger, weed trimmer, miscellaneous hand, and power tools.
Oral and written communication skills.
Physically capable of operating vehicles safely.
Possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Have an acceptable driving record.
Ability to travel independently within and outside Town limits to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance and mowing of parks, greenbelts, and open space areas.
Inspect, wash, and perform routine maintenance of park restrooms.
Assist with maintenance of public facilities such as playing fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, park restrooms, and picnic shelters.
Painting of playground equipment and facilities as needed.
Routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment.
Plant and maintain landscaping, including lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Operate a motor vehicle and numerous pieces of light equipment.
Use a variety of hand tools such as brooms, rakes, shovels, weed trimmer, lawn mowing equipment, etc.
Demonstrate proper and safe techniques of equipment operation and maintenance.
Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for various Town functions.
Prepare facilities for park and recreation program use.
Establish and maintain a professional and friendly working relationship with fellow employees, and the general public.
Clean and care for the equipment used.
Keep tool and equipment storage areas clean and organized.
Perform a multitude of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
