About The Position

The Seasonal Food Retail Lead is responsible for providing oversight, leadership, and ensuring excellent service is provided to guests in a welcoming, seamless and professional manner. The ultimate aim is to bless and minister to guests and staff in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision, culture code and standards of conduct. This is a Ministerial position, meaning staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats. All staff are expected to join gatherings which include prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Requirements

  • The Seasonal Food Retail Lead is a Ministerial position.

  • All staff are expected to join gatherings which include prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.
  • High school graduate.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have a heart to serve.
  • Ability to operate calmly and rationally in stressful situations.
  • Must be a punctual and responsible individual.
  • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to learn how to use a cash register and make accurate cash and credit transactions, or previous POS system experience.
  • General understanding of correct food handling and safe serving techniques.
  • Must agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s mission, vision, culture code and standards of conduct.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Serve Safe Certificate preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Previous food, retail, or sales experience is preferred.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • General accounting skills relating to retail sales are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage, provide direction, lead by example and act as supervisor when the Food Retail Manager is unavailable.
  • Demonstrate professional and clear communication with all customers and team members, providing prompt and courteous service.
  • Identify guest needs and teach the team how to appropriately suggest products to enhance service and meet sales goals.
  • Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products to ensure products are presented in the most appealing way and are used in a timely manner.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with the duty rosters and cleaning standards so the responsibility is shared among team members and the facility is maintained with a high level of cleanliness, ensuring the correct and timely recording of cleaning log and food temperature logs.
  • Follow cash register policies, inventory stocking, and recording guidelines to ensure accurate records are kept and inventory is on hand as needed.
  • Reconcile and deposit daily sales to ensure cash drawers are balanced out properly at the end of the day.
  • Make change daily or as needed to ensure cash drawers have sufficient change.
  • Ensure proper and sanitary preparation of food and drink orders as well as quality and quantity control of food and drink at Coffee Shop and Fountain.
  • Other duties as assigned
