About The Position
Under the supervision of the Fire Captain/Eng. Boss, performs urban interface thinning and mitigation efforts within Sandy City. Candidates will work with other part-time members on thinning fuels and creating fuel breaks.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years old to apply.
- Requires valid Utah Driver’s License or valid learner’s permit.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to write reports.
- Frequent use of weed eater and hand tools.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and City personnel.
- Must pass drug test before hire.
Nice To Haves
- Some related work experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Performs urban interface thinning and mitigation efforts within Sandy City.
- Works with other part-time members on thinning fuels and creating fuel breaks.
- Responsible for the use of discretion and judgment in emergency situations.
- Responsible for the care, condition and use of department apparatus and equipment.
- Informs supervisor of mechanical or other issues that require service to equipment.
- Communicates verbally and in writing.
- Writes reports.
- Uses weed eater and hand tools.
- Understands the care and maintenance of tools being used.
- Analyzes and solves problems.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public and City personnel.
