About The Position

This role is for a Seasonal Respite Direct Care Professional at Devereux in Tucson, AZ. The program provides temporary relief to primary caregivers and ensures youth aged birth to 17, experiencing moderate emotional or behavioral difficulties, receive care in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Youth participate in various recreational and enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, roller skating, gardening, movies, arcade, park visits, and community outings. The program operates out of residential houses to create a home-like environment. Summer Direct Care Professionals (DCP) will provide direct supervision, assist with daily activity schedules, and support individuals with their mental health, behavior management, emotional needs, de-escalation, treatment plan implementation, personal care (bathing, dressing), household cleaning, medication management, transportation, and fostering social skills. Additional duties include documenting progress, adhering to schedules, attending clinical supervision meetings, and assisting with planning and implementing enrichment activities and community outings.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Pass DMV 36-month history check.
  • Minimum of six (6) weeks of behavioral health experience.
  • Ability to attend New Hire Orientation May 11: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm for 6 days (paid).
  • Pass pre-employment physical and job demand assessment (if applicable).
  • Pass drug test within 24hrs of offer with negative results.
  • Possess a current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to individuals.
  • Assist with the day-to-day activity schedule.
  • Help individuals with their mental health.
  • Manage behaviors and emotional needs.
  • De-escalate situations.
  • Implement treatment plans.
  • Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing).
  • Perform household cleaning (mopping, sweeping, dusting, laundry, trash, dishes).
  • Manage medication.
  • Provide transportation.
  • Foster social skills.
  • Document progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs.
  • Adhere to the activity schedule.
  • Attend clinical supervision meetings.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of enrichment activities and community outings.
