Direct Care Professional
About The Position
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking a Direct Care Professional (DCP) to make an impact on the lives of children, adolescents, and adults with emotional, behavioral, and cognitive differences. As a DCP, you will work with dedicated professionals to help vulnerable individuals build on their strengths and improve their lives. Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional and behavioral differences, and dual diagnoses. This position involves assisting individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management, achieving personal goals, recreation, and daily household living, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets their physical, emotional, and personal needs, improves functioning, and minimizes interfering behaviors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education or other related field is required
- OR High School Diploma with 12 years of relevant Human Service experience
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders
Responsibilities
- Actively assist individuals with their individualized plans for daily living and ensure they are safe, healthy, and living in a clean environment
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs designed to meet social, emotional, physical, and personal needs
- Plan and participate in community outings, and schedule/transport individuals to doctor’s appointments, shopping trips, and day programs/schools
- Be a mentor to other staff and conduct observations and provide feedback for required trainings
