Seasonal Catering Staff
About The Position
Vala’s is a family-owned and operated fall festival located in Gretna, Nebraska, open for 45 to 60 days a year. It spans over 400 acres with more than 50 attractions and over 25 food locations, serving as a treasured fall tradition for many families. Vala’s mission is to bring happiness by creating a place for magical memories. As part of the food team, this position is responsible for the preparation and execution of catering events on the farm. This may include cooking, food preparation, serving, and interacting with large groups of guests. This position reports to the location Team Leader. This is a seasonal, part to full-time position.
Requirements
- Strong communication and guest services skills
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Successful completion of Vala’s Alcohol Service Training (if applicable, based on age)
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to move 25 lbs, 25-50 lbs frequently, and 50-70 lbs occasionally
- Interest in food preparation and service- experience not required
- May be provided training to utilize farm vehicles if 21 years of age or older with a valid driver license. Driving farm vehicles is not required for all catering staff.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and execute a variety of cooking and food preparation activities
- Set up event spaces while utilizing catering guidelines and contract arrangements
- Serve guests food and beverages, as needed
- Serve alcoholic beverages when applicable (only required if age 21 years or older)
- Interact in a friendly manner with guests at all times
- Quickly resolve guest issues
- Collect prepared food items from a variety of locations on the farm
- Maintain a clean and food safe work environment at all times
- Monitor and process Campfire Eats orders throughout shift
- May assist in food locations, based on scheduling needs
