About The Position

The J.R. Simplot Company is seeking Seasonal Calf Ranch Laborers for their Grand View, ID location. This role involves the daily care of calves, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their environment. The position requires early starts and adherence to strict hygiene protocols to ensure calf health. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing milk, cleaning feeding equipment, providing water and grain, monitoring and adding bedding, and scraping/cleaning pens. The job is physically demanding and requires working in various weather conditions and environments, including near animals and moving mechanical parts.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondences.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tolls, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Feed calves bottles according to schedule, per instructions and distribute according to supervisor directions
• Cleans and sanitize milk bottles/nipples, grain/water buckets, and hutches between use to ensure healthy feeding facilities.
• Maintain grounds ensuring that the facility is clean and free of debris both inside and outside.
• Other duties may be assigned.
