About The Position

The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral and psychiatric support needs. We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual as a Seamstress. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the quality of life and well-being of participants through purposeful and inclusive services.

Requirements

  • One year experience as an institutional or commercial seamstress; OR Twelve semester hours in a sewing or closely related course.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general sewing, altering, and mending of garments either by machine or by hand.
  • Takes the necessary measurements for the items to be altered.
  • Makes garments such as aprons, clothes protectors, and medical bags.
  • Creates cloth bags for storage on the back of wheelchairs, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Sews curtains and privacy screens for the homes and offices located at PSSC.
  • Takes measurements, follows sewing patterns, and sometimes develops new patterns.
  • Submits all requisitions for supplies and materials needed to the Administrative Program Manager 2.
  • Contacts repairman when machines need to be repaired.
  • Ensures all orders are logged in the book and signed for when orders are completed.
  • Operates sewing machines, cutters, and other equipment required in the operation of the Sewing Room.
