About The Position

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for a Seamstress. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of industrial sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and the ability to install patches, recondition uniforms, and perform alterations. Will be responsible for performing alterations on trousers, changes on coats to include adjusting sleeves, replacing collars, and sewing on buttons, hooks, rank chevrons and class stripes. Will assist with mending tears and rips in clothing. Responsible for repairs and alterations to cadet uniforms, military, and employee uniforms. Performs one or any combination of sewing as well as blind stitch, post, sleeve, cylinder and hand-sewing techniques. Performs other related duties as determined by supervisor. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to perform uniform alterations and repairs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 3 years sewing experience
Knowledge of industrial sewing machines, and hand sewing techniques
Experience performing alterations
Customer service skills
