Requirements

• Six months of sewing or mending experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Identify and sort items that need repair, alteration, or labeling
• Operate hand tools and sewing machines to alter and repair clothing, linens, and other items
• Tag and label clothing and linens and update labels on donated items as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized sewing space and arrange service for equipment when needed
• Cut patterns and trim, press, and fold articles for assembly such as curtains and decorations
• Wash and dry curtains and draperies when required
