About The Position

The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral and psychiatric support needs. We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual as a Seamstress. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the quality of life and well-being of participants through purposeful and inclusive services.

Requirements

  • One year experience as an institutional or commercial seamstress; OR Twelve semester hours in a sewing or closely related course.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general sewing, altering, and mending of garments either by machine or by hand, including taking necessary measurements.
  • Makes garments such as aprons, clothes protectors, and medical bags.
  • Creates cloth bags for storage on wheelchairs and other miscellaneous items.
  • Sews curtains and privacy screens for homes and offices, which may involve taking measurements, following patterns, and developing new patterns.
  • Submits requisitions for supplies and materials to the Administrative Program Manager 2.
  • Contacts repairmen when machines need repair.
  • Ensures all orders are logged and signed for upon completion.
  • Operates sewing machines, cutters, and other equipment required in the operation of the Sewing Room.
