About The Position

Prepares assemblies for paint, seal bonding, touch-up and part marking. Responsible for painting and sealing process including surface preparation, masking, and chemicals handling. May include limited duties of paint and sealant application to international and customer specifications as directed by management representatives.

Requirements

  • US Person Status
  • Safety procedures for Chemicals handling.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and/or drawings
  • Experience with spray and cup gun.
  • Must have a keen eye for color variations/discrepancies.
  • Understand proper use and maintenance of required PPE i.e. dust masks, safety glasses. gloves
  • Ability to work on your feet up to 8 hours per day, including some OT at various times throughout the year, based on manufacturing needs.
  • Understand technical management and quality assurance procedures.
  • Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
  • Ability to take direction from lead and supervisor to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and directly co-workers and supervisory personnel both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt to change (positive or negative)
  • Ability to accept of criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces to be painted or sealed as requested by the working instructions using abrasives, solvents, and brushes.
  • Ensures the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint and sealing duties.
  • Interprets specifications drawings to apply/adjoin sealants and adhesives
  • May perform sealant application assuring compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Smoothing and fairing, solvent cleaning
  • Maintains supplies and equipment, including spray guns, air hoses, pumps, paper, and tape
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a. sign-off) in a clear, concise and accurate manner
  • Observes all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of all currently used painting or sealing equipment.
  • Interprets specifications, color renderings, and instructions and plans sequences, and times the paint operation. This includes mixing ratios, surface preparation, papering and masking, drying time, number of coats, etc.)
  • Work requires use of hazardous materials such as seal, bond, epoxy, solvents etc.
  • Must dispose of hazardous waste in appropriate manner
  • Utilize production work orders and documents. Ensure all documentation is complete and correct.
  • Mentor and assist in training of student trainees.
  • Detect and report defective equipment, materials and/or faulty operations to supervisor.
  • Follow prescribed work rules and standard safety regulations at all times.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting and continuously improving company policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Able to maintain regular attendance and punctuality as scheduled
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
