About The Position

The Seafood Manager serves as a primary contact for Safeway customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The role is accountable for department results, including customer service, sales, gain, and cost control, and follows division guidelines for merchandising. The manager trains, schedules, supervises, and assigns duties to seafood clerks, while also carrying out seafood preparation and department operations such as cutting, weighing, wrapping, packaging, cleaning, displaying, and ordering products and supplies. The role includes monitoring freezer and cooler temperatures and maintaining a clean department.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Previous experience as a seafood clerk.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service according to employer procedures and company policy.
• Train, schedule, supervise, and assign duties to seafood clerks to ensure suitable department staffing.
• Speak with customers to resolve problems related to the Seafood department.
• Follow division guidelines for implementing the merchandising program.
• Operate an electronic scanning scale to record the weight of packaged items.
• Apply price tags to wrapped items.
• Obtain items from the case for customers' special orders.
• Cut, weigh, wrap, package, and clean seafood for sale and display.
• Maintain cleanliness of the seafood area, including cleaning spills, surfaces, equipment, and work areas.
• Restock seafood displays and remove expired items daily.
• Perform daily inventory and order products and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
• Receive shipments.
• Log freezer and cooler temperatures.
• Monitor inter-office mail and the company webpage daily for updated information.
• Make department signs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
