The manager promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer focused behavior with associates. They focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the department and make changes to ensure progress. The manager manages inventory levels, reviews orders, and oversees shelf replenishment efforts to ensure product availability for customers. They are responsible for scheduling all Seafood associates, overseeing and participating in training, rewarding and recognizing performance, and delegating work assignments to effectively utilize talents and abilities while maximizing profits for the department. They participate in associate annual performance reviews and new hire interviews, and utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for current and new associates. The manager develops and implements localized merchandising plans, sets up and creates displays for new or seasonal items to drive sales. They develop and maintain communications with other departments and the store manager to devise cross merchandising plans and meet financial objectives. They monitor competitor activity concerning merchandising, pricing, quality, and comparison signage. The manager prepares and maintains records of inventories to calculate gross monthly profits. They inspect seafood products and supplies upon delivery for quality and quantity, and may help unload and unpack product. They enforce and follow department practices regarding receiving, dating and stocking product to ensure quality, accuracy and proper rotation. They handle spoiled and damaged product according to established procedures. The manager controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, controlling labor costs, and reducing losses due to damages, spoiled product and shrink. They ensure associates correctly follow company recipes for prepared products and maintain freshness by properly removing and recording out of code products. They complete required product logs and check and verify all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing. They may help unload merchandise and transport to sales floor or storage area. They enforce and follow department practices regarding receiving, dating and restocking to ensure product rotation. They monitor product quality and freshness, and break down deliveries. They keep the seafood area well stocked and appealing to meet customer requirements. They make suggestions and provide information on seafood preparation, take orders for future delivery, and help fill special requests. They help resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner. They set up displays and rotate product as needed, and ensure that seafood is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage. They handle product that is spoiled, damaged or close to expiration as detailed by company procedures and standards, and remove product that is not saleable to ensure quality. They weigh and wrap merchandise for customers and apply sticker showing price and weight. They maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality. They adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or utilizing kitchen tools. They maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures. They are responsible for general sanitation in the department, follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. They dispose of trash properly and may assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. They ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. They are responsible for continuously improving job and department performance and for the utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). They may also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum (3) years management experience in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.
