About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Help support the University Museums with tasks related to exhibition development, art preparation, and the care and management of the artwork in the University Museums collections. The intern will learn how to handle, mat and frame, install, and de-install artwork and related objects for exhibit display. Additionally, the intern will learn about exhibition design, basic graphic design, basic carpentry skills, basic hand/power tool skills and interior painting skills. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Learn museum standards for art handling and preparation and implement those skills with hands on assignments. Assist with art handling, object movement, and collections care. Assist with matting, framing, and unframing of collections and student artwork as needed. Assist with exhibition production, design, and installation as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidate must be organized, energetic, and self-motivated. Must be detail-oriented, reliable, willing to take direction, have a positive approach to problem solving and willingness to work closely with staff. Must be able to work 4-6 hours per week.
