About The Position

The Engagement & Marketing Ambassador supports the work of Living-Learning & New Student Programs through creative marketing design, prospective student outreach and recruitment, and event support. This position supports initiatives for The Richmond Endeavor, Sophomore Scholars in Residence (SSIR), and New Spider Orientation (NSO) by creating engaging promotional materials, representing programs at recruitment and admissions events, and designing and implementing memorable signature experiences for living-learning students during the academic year. The position is designed to start the first week of classes in the Fall and will conclude at the end of the Spring semester. Due to the nature of the role primarily supporting Living-Learning program efforts, preference will be given to students who have previously or actively been part of Endeavor & SSIR. Requirements

  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to accomplish larger tasks, like designing and implementing larger events or a larger social media strategy.
  • Creativity and interest in marketing, design, social media, or student engagement.
  • Willingness to engage with students, prospective families, faculty, and campus visitors.
  • Passion for creating welcoming, engaging student experiences and building campus community.
  • 5-8 hours of availability weekly during standard working hours (8:30 AM – 5 PM). Hours can be spread throughout the week but should be a consistent schedule. Additional hours may be available during larger events.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and familiarity with Canva, social media platforms, or other design tools.
  • Passion for creating welcoming, engaging student experiences and building community.
  • Past/active enrollment in SSIR and/or Endeavor.
  • Strong sense of creativity and desire to learn.
  • Strategic communication skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Students who plan to be on campus for the academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a program ambassador by confidently sharing information about student opportunities, leadership roles, and campus involvement supported by our office.
  • Support recruitment efforts by staffing tables at campus events, admissions programs, and information sessions to engage prospective and current students.
  • Assist with planning, designing, and implementing signature programs and engagement experiences for Endeavor and SSIR students, including special events, workshops, and community-building initiatives.
  • Aid in the implementation of the annual Orientation Team Banquet in the spring semester.
  • Provide general event support including setup, logistics coordination, and post-event follow-up.
  • Design marketing and promotional materials for The Richmond Endeavor, SSIR, and New Spider Orientation, including flyers, social media graphics, digital signage (d-flyers), presentations, and recruitment tabling/events.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to develop creative outreach strategies that increase student participation and program visibility.
  • Capture event content through photos, videos, and student storytelling for future marketing and promotional use
  • Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across all student-facing communications
  • Provide general event support including setup, logistics coordination, and post-event follow-up
  • Facilitate virtual recruitment events, including hosting virtual panels for SSIR. (SSIR experience not required, but comfort in moderating is).
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Living-Learning Programs to establish and maintain a social media strategy calendar.
