About The Position

The Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse provides required care while transporting patients between designated facilities. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient needs during each encounter. The role provides leadership by following patient-care standards, delivering high-quality customer service, and directing a multidisciplinary care team. The SCT Nurse also helps create a healing and wellness-focused environment through positive, patient- and family-centered care.

Requirements

At least one year of nursing experience.
Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team while delivering patient care.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
ACLS, PALS, and CPR certifications.
Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey.
Valid driver’s license.
Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

Two years of nursing experience, preferably in an Emergency Department or Critical Care Unit.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Current CCRN or CEN certification.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and provide appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during patient transports.
Serve as crew leader on a multidisciplinary care team.
Accurately document patient assessments, treatment, responses to treatment, and transfer of care after each incident.
Respond accurately and efficiently to quality assurance requests.
Manage rapidly changing situations and apply standard precautions and patient-safety principles.
Maintain Virtua-owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner.
Inspect the vehicle and equipment at the start of each shift and ensure the SCTU is ready for service.
