Scrum Master - Local to Pittsburgh, PA

CGIPittsburgh, PA

About The Position

CGI is looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join our Enterprise Document Management team, supporting our client which is a large US Bank, working in an advanced technology environment. The candidate for this role will be expected to be onsite five days a week at our client site in Pittsburgh PA. For this role on this particular client engagement, employer sponsorship of immigration related visa and/or green card status as part of the PERM process will not be available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience
  • 5–8 years as a Scrum Master in high-pressure, enterprise delivery environments
  • Proven ability to enforce delivery discipline and recover failing or unstable teams
  • Experience operating in environments with strict governance, high visibility, and executive oversight
  • Experience in platform, cloud, or large-scale modernization programs preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Banking and financial domain is a plus
  • Experience working with enterprise document management / ECM platforms such as: OpenText, IBM File Net, Hyland OnBase, AEM or Sharepoint

Responsibilities

  • Command and enforce all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Review, Retrospective, Refinement) with strict adherence to time, structure, and outcomes.
  • Ensure every ceremony results in clear decisions, ownership, and documented outputs — no ambiguity permitted.
  • Maintain absolute sprint discipline — no mid-sprint scope changes, unplanned work, or external interference without formal escalation and approval.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for sprint entry — no backlog item enters a sprint without readiness (clear scope, acceptance criteria, and sizing).
  • Own sprint integrity end-to-end — commitments are treated as contractual obligations.
  • Immediately challenge and correct deviations including over-commitment, carryover, scope creep, and quality shortcuts.
  • Block unauthorized work intake and enforce a single controlled intake channel for all requests.
  • Escalate delivery risks early, factually, and without delay to program leadership.
  • Relentlessly drive impediment removal — blockers must have an owner, resolution path, and timeline within 24 hours.
  • Escalate unresolved issues aggressively using data-backed evidence and impact analysis.
  • Ensure dependencies are actively managed, tracked, and escalated before they affect sprint outcomes.
  • Enforce Definition of Done as non-negotiable — incomplete work is not accepted under any circumstances.
  • Prevent accumulation of technical debt, partial work, and quality compromises.
  • Actively identify and eliminate anti-patterns including hero culture, silent failures, and hidden work.
  • Maintain real-time visibility of team performance through metrics: velocity, burndown, predictability, spillover, defect leakage, and impediment aging.
  • Convert execution data into clear, objective delivery narratives for leadership.
  • Use metrics to hold the team accountable and drive behavioral change.
  • Establish and reinforce clear expectations for accountability, ownership, and delivery behavior.
  • Coach team members and partners on execution discipline—not just Agile concepts.
  • Intervene directly when performance, participation, or accountability standards are not met.
  • Ensure retrospectives produce specific, measurable improvements with assigned ownership and deadlines.
  • Track improvement actions to closure with visible impact.
  • Drive measurable gains in predictability, throughput, and quality sprint-over-sprint.
