About The Position

The Scrum Master (Level 7) is an Individual Contributor responsible for enabling effective Agile delivery within Core Banking Technology teams. This role acts as a servant leader, facilitator, and delivery enabler, ensuring that Agile principles are consistently applied while delivering high‑quality, compliant, and predictable outcomes. Operating in a highly complex and regulated Core Banking environment, the Scrum Master partners with Product Owners, Engineering teams, Architects, and cross‑functional stakeholders to remove impediments, manage delivery risks, and drive continuous improvement across the delivery lifecycle. This role will report to Engineering Manager/ Delivery Lead. Hybrid work environment in Scarborough office. Occasional non‑standard hours may be required to support releases and delivery timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) required
  • Strong Scrum facilitation, coaching, and servant leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (technical + executive‑level articulation).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, dashboards).
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • advanced Agile certifications (SAFe, LeSS) are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Reviews, Retrospectives) and ensure adherence to Agile best practices.
  • Track delivery progress across the project lifecycle and ensure timely execution of deliverables and milestones.
  • Maintain alignment between team capacity, sprint commitments, and delivery goals.
  • Identify, escalate, and remove impediments impacting team velocity and delivery outcomes.
  • Maintain risk trackers and proactively communicate risks, issues, and dependencies to leadership.
  • Engage stakeholders (e.g., Risk, Legal, Audit) to ensure delivery compliance and minimize operational exposure.
  • Coordinate with upstream/downstream teams to manage cross‑team dependencies and ensure end‑to‑end delivery alignment.
  • Provide regular status updates and communicate risks, blockers, and progress across stakeholders.
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts, ambiguities, and competing priorities across stakeholder groups.
  • Coach team members on Agile principles, values, and best practices to improve delivery maturity and self‑organization.
  • Foster a high‑performing, collaborative, and psychologically safe team environment.
  • Lead by example to promote accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
  • Monitor team performance using Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, throughput, delivery predictability) and communicate insights.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and progress charts to support data‑driven decision making.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead continuous improvement initiatives across delivery teams.
  • Ensure all activities align with enterprise governance frameworks, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining documentation, traceability, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Operate in alignment with the Bank’s risk culture, policies, and Code of Conduct expectations.
