About The Position

The Scrum Master will support the Fairstone Financial business vision in managing application software development activities and participating in the implementation of strategic initiatives. This role drives integrated teams to deliver technology solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product owners, architects, developers, and quality assurance specialists. The Scrum Master will coach agile principles to various levels within the organization, including stakeholders, release managers, and product development teams, considering the organization's maturity level. They will manage and track team performance, including progress reports, burn down, and velocity charts, and manage/escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes. Ensuring high-quality, clearly documented deliverables across engineering teams is crucial. The role involves conducting daily stand-ups and retrospectives, monitoring requirement status through elaboration, design, implementation, and testing, and coordinating deployments and sustainment releases with Program Managers and the PMO. The Scrum Master will also work with the product owner and team on backlog grooming, operate within a lean UX and lean engineering environment, ensure agile methods are followed, remove barriers for development teams, and participate in product roadmap and release planning. A key responsibility is governing the "Definition of Done" process, ensuring product and engineering goals are met, including automated test results, security test results, CI/CD results, and contractual deliverables, and addressing any gaps. When required, the Scrum Master should be able to fulfill any position within the team (Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, Developer).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Computer Technology field, such as IS, IT, or Computer Science
  • Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in development and implementation of enterprise systems
  • 5+ years of experience working with product development teams that practice modern and lean product development methods, such user-centered and user experience design, DevOps, public API development, micro services, and acceptance test driven development
  • 5+ years’ experience in Agile and Kanban methodology
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and other Agile Atlassian tools are preferred
  • Ability to communicate with technical as well as business partners
  • Ability to analyze business processes and technology application
  • Knowledge of high-level organizational skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interprets operational needs, and develops creative solutions in a technical environment
  • Ability to analyze comprehensive business processes, performs in-depth work analysis, and develops project management reports and flow charts in an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Excellent English and French oral and written communication skills

  • Scrum Master Certification (CSM) desired - must obtain within 90 days of start date.

  • Remove barriers and impediments for product development teams
  • Participate and contribute to product roadmap and release plans
  • Govern the “Definition of Done” process
  • Work with the product development teams to address gaps in fulfilling “Done”
  • Fulfill any position in the team (Business analyst, technical analyst, developer) when required
