Air Canada seeks a highly motivated, strong, highly skilled Scrum Master to build and guide our project teams in our IT Customer Digital Development group. The ideal candidate is responsible for bringing together the business and technical aspects of any given solution. The successful individual must be customer journey centric and have a passion for the travel industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, IT and or information systems
  • 3+ years of Scrum Master experience and overall 8+ years of experience in IT/Software development.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile & Waterfall software development methodologies
  • Must have exceptional communication, facilitation, and time management skills
  • Experience working in complex, multi-project, multi-vendor, and multi-team environments
  • Creative, resourceful, and innovative at tackling complex challenges and resolving problems
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification and/or PMP certification an asset
  • Experience with Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) is an asset
  • Experience with SDLC tools like JIRA, and Confluence an asset
  • Airline or travel industry experience a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach multiple Agile teams delivering digital application development projects on cloud technologies, acting as a servant-leader and providing guidance on Agile methodologies, best practices, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring adherence to Agile principles and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Support product owners and stakeholders in backlog refinement and prioritisation, ensuring alignment between delivery teams and business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Identify, track, and remove impediments and risks, keeping teams unblocked and enabling consistent delivery of incremental value.
  • Coordinate across multiple Agile teams through Scrum of Scrums or scaled practices, managing interdependencies and shared risks to ensure cohesive delivery.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, QA, and Infrastructure to support seamless integration of cloud technologies across the software development lifecycle.
  • Track and communicate delivery metrics — including velocity, burn-down, and sprint progress — providing transparent updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives and implementing process enhancements that strengthen team performance.
  • Mentor and coach team members on Agile practices, fostering innovation, psychological safety, and shared accountability.
  • Apply knowledge of aviation or airline sector considerations to anticipate risks and adapt Agile practices to the industry context.
