About The Position

Provides care to patients by assisting the physician and/or registered nurse during all procedures and offers critical assistance in managing complex technologies to assure positive patient outcomes. This role has independent, autonomous responsibility for the care and disinfection of instruments to mitigate the risk of infection to the patient. The position involves assisting the physician during procedures by providing instrumentation and anticipating needs, setting up procedural equipment, and providing necessary instrumentation and supplies. The technician also assists in patient preparation pre and post procedure under the supervision of the circulating nurse, and assists the circulating nurse in obtaining and securing specimens for diagnostic testing. Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties and facilitates patient flow. Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of the procedural suite. Develops understanding and provides documentation needs utilizing systems such as Ulticare and Provation. This position requires independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision. It involves coordinating activities of others (does not supervise) and leading others in the same work performed (does not supervise). The role requires direct work with patients and/or customers, and interaction with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face. It also involves working with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 months of previous related medical experience, preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to take instruction.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy.

Nice To Haves

  • BLS and CPR preferred.
