About The Position

As a Scrub Tech, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the surgical team during operative procedures while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and sterile operating room environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • CST required in select states
  • BLS certification required
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under the stress of the operating room atmosphere
  • Ability to verify visual and audio alarms on machines

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized Surgical Tech program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and sterile draping
  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform additional intraoperative tasks as directed by the surgeon
  • Prepare dressings or bandages and assist with post-surgical application
  • Observe patients’ vital signs to assess physical condition
  • Prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Maintain a proper sterile field throughout surgical procedures
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operations
  • Scrub arms and hands and assist the surgical team with sterile attire and glove application
  • Wash and sterilize equipment using germicides and sterilizers
  • Operate and monitor sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Monitor operating room conditions and anticipate the needs of both the patient and surgical team
  • Complete annual mandatory training by assigned deadlines
  • Clean and restock operating rooms between cases
  • Gather and organize surgical equipment and instruments according to preference cards and instructions
  • Maintain surgical procedure files and records
  • Order surgical supplies and maintain fluid inventory, including plasma, saline, blood, and glucose
  • Communicate accurate and timely patient information to the Registered Nurse
  • Record pertinent information clearly, accurately, and promptly
  • Assist with preparing and moving patients as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
