About The Position

As a Scrub Tech, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the surgical team during operative procedures while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and sterile operating room environment. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
CST required in select states
BLS certification required
At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work under the stress of the operating room atmosphere
Ability to verify visual and audio alarms on machines

Nice To Haves

Completion of a recognized Surgical Tech program preferred

Responsibilities

Assist the surgical team during operative procedures
Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and sterile draping
Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
Hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform additional intraoperative tasks as directed by the surgeon
Prepare dressings or bandages and assist with post-surgical application
Observe patients’ vital signs to assess physical condition
Prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens for laboratory analysis
Maintain a proper sterile field throughout surgical procedures
Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operations
Scrub arms and hands and assist the surgical team with sterile attire and glove application
Wash and sterilize equipment using germicides and sterilizers
Operate and monitor sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment to ensure proper functionality
Monitor operating room conditions and anticipate the needs of both the patient and surgical team
Complete annual mandatory training by assigned deadlines
Clean and restock operating rooms between cases
Gather and organize surgical equipment and instruments according to preference cards and instructions
Maintain surgical procedure files and records
Order surgical supplies and maintain fluid inventory, including plasma, saline, blood, and glucose
Communicate accurate and timely patient information to the Registered Nurse
Record pertinent information clearly, accurately, and promptly
Assist with preparing and moving patients as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
