About The Position

Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital seeking a Surgical/Scrub Tech for its Surgery Unit. This role involves monitoring surgical instrument and pain management supply levels, cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments, participating in departmental meetings and performance improvement activities, and demonstrating Service Excellence standards. The position requires professional interaction with patients and families, providing explanations and reassurance, and preparing the operating room with necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for surgical/pain procedures or GI Lab procedures.

Requirements

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
Surgical Technician Certification required (within 6 months of hire) or verifiable hospital surgical tech experience prior to 1/1/2018.
Current BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

Main OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and Pain management supplies.
Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments used in the OR and Pain Center.
Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
Interacts professionally with patients and family.
Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary.
Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical / pain procedure, or all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies and equipment of each individual GI Lab procedure.
