About The Position

Under the general supervision of a registered nurse, the Scrub Tech provides nursing care and completes delegated tasks for all categories of patients served. The role uses each patient’s individualized plan of care to provide care and collect data about patient needs and responses. Care is provided in accordance with Houston Healthcare’s Plan for the Provision of Nursing Care, standards of care, and standards of performance. The position is required to take call.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program, or current enrollment in good standing in the final quarter of a scrub tech program.
• One year of scrub tech experience; education may substitute for experience.
• Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
• Obtain and maintain required orthopedic education and training as mandated by Houston Healthcare’s Joint Destination Center of Excellence Policy.
• Ability to use surgical instruments, supplies, and necessary equipment during surgical procedures.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and the knowledge and ability to ensure safe, quality patient care during the operative procedure.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment, such as gloves, gowns, and masks.

• Use personal protective equipment, including gloves, gowns, and masks.
• Take call.
