About The Position

The Scribe is responsible for assisting physicians by accurately recording all findings during the examination in the electronic medical record (EMR). They complete glasses and medication prescriptions, recall information and patient education needed to provide comprehensive eye care to the patient.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of medical equipment and office equipment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced medical facility while adhering to HIPAA compliance regulations
• Relevant customer service experience
• Ability to see people as individuals, recognize and meet their specific needs related to their role

Nice To Haves

• CMSS or Medical Assistant certification obtained within 6 months of employment or COA required within 1 year of employment recommended

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patients
• Documents the patient record based on the physician findings of the examination
• Records billing information of the exam for proper financial processing
• Accurately documents all information during the course of an exam (route slip, consent forms, glasses prescriptions, medication prescription forms, MRI/CT/lab order forms)
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all other Clinic employees
• Ensures the exam rooms are stocked with necessary items
• Assists with patient calls, triaging emergent calls and determining appropriate scheduling protocol for the situation
• Completes patient medication refill requests
• Complete FMLA paperwork for patients
• Assists with scheduling patient appointments and prior authorizing imaging requests (i.e., CT scans, MRI)
• Other duties as assigned
