About The Position

This role is a great opportunity for med students or students in a gap year. The Scribe accompanies the physician into the patient exam room in order to transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, disposition, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present. The scribe has basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgery, diagnostic tests, pharmacology and the various medical specialties. Displays professional appearance and conduct while promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation. Knowledge of organizational policies, and computer applications. Proficiently navigates the electronic medical record. Excellent time management, organization and communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Demonstrates an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency in typing required.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Anatomy/Physiology or Medical Terminology classes preferred
• 6+ months of healthcare experience preferred
