About The Position

The Scratch Baker performs bakery functions on one or more items according to standard formulas and procedures. The role includes preparing, baking, finishing, merchandising, and packaging bakery products; assisting with ingredient and supply orders and inventory; and keeping bakery areas and equipment clean, sanitized, and in good working order. The position is for a graveyard shift and pays $16.81–$18.67 per hour. Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment, with possible frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. The work involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, and other physical tasks throughout the workday, including maneuvering objects weighing up to 30 pounds. The minimum age is 18 years. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes, including fermentation, bench time, proofing, and the effects of temperature variations.
Ability to perform bakery tasks involving repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; and stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
Ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to hear and respond to customer inquiries.

Responsibilities

Perform bakery functions such as mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing bakery items according to standard formulas and procedures.
Apply knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes, including fermentation, bench time, proofing, and the effects of temperature variations.
Assist with ordering bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory in accordance with department and store policy.
Fill, rotate, arrange, and merchandise displays and display cases.
Price, date, wrap, or bag bakery products in accordance with Bakery Merchant direction.
Proactively pursue self-development to take on additional duties and responsibilities.
Comply with company safety and accident-prevention policies and report accidents to the Bakery Merchant.
Clean and sanitize bakery areas and equipment as directed by the Bakery Merchant.
Maintain department equipment in good working order and recommend repairs when necessary.
