About The Position

Staiman Recycling Corporation is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Scrap Yard Inspector to join our Hanover team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring incoming materials meet company specifications, are free from environmental hazards, and are processed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor industrial environment.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds or more.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify material discrepancies.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Inspect incoming scrap shipments to verify material quality, value, and compliance with company specifications.
Identify and remove prohibited or hazardous materials in accordance with company environmental and safety policies.
Direct customers and vendors to appropriate unloading areas while maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the yard.
Assist with unloading, sorting, picking, and processing recyclable materials.
Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment as trained and authorized.
Communicate material concerns, safety issues, or policy violations to supervisors.
Provide support throughout the yard and assist with other operational duties as assigned.
Maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
