The Opportunity We are looking for a Non-Ferrous Scrap Yard Buyer and Small Scale Operator to join our team in Locust Grove. This role is ideal for someone with scrap metal experience who wants to deepen their expertise in non-ferrous metals, work directly with customers, and play a key part in daily yard operations. In this position, you will own the process of evaluating, grading, and pricing incoming non-ferrous material while delivering strong customer service and supporting a safe, efficient yard. Requirements
- Industry experience in the scrap metal field, with working knowledge of non-ferrous metals and basic grading practices
- Comfort working in a hands-on, outdoor, high-energy environment with regular physical activity
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn and follow established processes
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers as they unload non-ferrous scrap material at the small scale
- Weigh, grade, and evaluate non-ferrous metals (such as copper, brass, aluminum, and wire) using proper techniques and tools
- Provide accurate, fair pricing based on current market values and company standards while documenting transactions correctly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area, following all safety procedures and guidelines
- Assist with general labor and processing tasks in the non-ferrous division, including moving, sorting, and preparing material
Benefits
- Pay range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, based on experience
