About The Position
M&M Recycling is seeking a Non-Ferrous Scrap Yard Buyer and Small Scale Operator for their Locust Grove location. This role is for an individual with scrap metal experience who wants to specialize in non-ferrous metals, interact directly with customers, and contribute to daily yard operations. The position involves evaluating, grading, and pricing incoming non-ferrous materials, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a safe and efficient yard environment. It is suitable for those who enjoy hands-on work, outdoor settings, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Industry experience in the scrap metal field.
- Working knowledge of non-ferrous metals and basic grading practices.
- Comfort working in a hands-on, outdoor, high-energy environment with regular physical activity.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn and follow established processes.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers unloading non-ferrous scrap material at the small scale.
- Weigh, grade, and evaluate non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper, brass, aluminum, wire) using appropriate techniques and tools.
- Provide accurate and fair pricing based on current market values and company standards, documenting transactions correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area, adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Assist with general labor and processing tasks in the non-ferrous division, including moving, sorting, and preparing material.
