About The Position

The Scientist works in an environmental testing laboratory, conducting hands-on analysis to help ensure the integrity and quality of environmental data affecting communities and ecosystems. The role analyzes air, water, and soil samples for environmental contaminants using established chemistry and biochemistry methods. The Scientist reviews and interprets analysis results, maintains organized laboratory records, and cleans, maintains, and calibrates laboratory instruments and equipment. Training is provided.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another STEM-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment, including standing for extended periods, working around strong odors, and wearing required PPE.

Responsibilities

• Use instruments such as GC, HPLC, and ICP.
• Analyze air, water, and soil samples for environmental contaminants using established chemistry and biochemistry methods.
• Review and interpret sample analysis results.
• Accurately document procedures, observations, and results in laboratory records.
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
